Third District Voters
On August 5, 2010 the Republican Party will nominate their candidate for U.S. House. If the GOP candidate effectively demonstrates the ability to vote against Party leadership and for initiatives such as Term Limits, Fair or Flat Tax, Tort Reform, Enumerated Powers Act, etc; I will withdraw from the race and support this candidate in November. However; if the GOP candidate proves to be a Party ideolog or a candidate that simply reiterates conservative rhetoric, I will remain in the race.
If the latter becomes evident and TN-3 faces multiple Independent candidates going into November’s general election, the likelihood of advancement will greatly diminish. After the August 5, 2010 primary elections, the Third District voters who do not support the GOP candidate must unite around a singular Independent candidate.
Tim Cox, founder of Goooh is aware of Tennessee’s April 1, 2010 candidate qualifying deadline. Mr. Cox indicated he is working to possibly provide a Goooh candidate selection process in March.
If there is insufficient time to implement Goooh prior to April 1, 2010, I would then suggest a Q&A format with a pre-answered candidate questionnaire, similar to Goooh. Shortly after the August 5, 2010 primary elections, all Independent candidates will be invited to interview individually and regionally over a course of several weekends. At its conclusion an IRV voting process will select the candidate. The established Patriot and Tea Party groups will organize and facilitate this effort.
To accomplish this objective, it is not necessary for those of us who believe in limited government to mimic the structured organization of the political parties. It’s the political parties that believe the collective must be governed by experts; professional politicians, lawyers, etc. and to over-complicate this process only plays to their strength.
As we speak, the fourth quarter FEC filing results are being posted and for those candidates that are not engaging on the issues (Tenth Amendment ~ Tea Party Coalition ~ New Contract for America) no amount of money will help them in November…the day of political double-speak is over!
Folks, I have as my only motivation in running for elected office a strong desire to elect the best candidate who will become part of a process that effectively limits and prevents for future generations, the advancement and intrusion of government into our lives.
Mark DeVol, Candidate U.S. House TN-3
